Heating: What Rebates Are Available in Quebec in Fall 2026?

Installing a heat pump or replacing a heating system represents a significant investment. Fortunately, financial assistance is still available to help Quebec homeowners substantially reduce the cost of their project.

In 2026, the program to know about first is Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert program, which offers various financial incentives depending on the type of equipment installed and its energy performance. Since these programs evolve regularly, it is important to verify the eligibility requirements and available amounts before starting any work.

Here’s what you need to know.

HYDRO-QUÉBEC — LogisVert

The LogisVert program encourages homeowners to adopt various measures designed to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

For homeowners considering the installation or replacement of a heat pump, financial assistance varies based in particular on the unit’s heating capacity and its performance in cold weather.

ENERGY STAR Heat Pumps

For heat pumps installed since November 26, 2025, the unit must be ENERGY STAR certified to qualify for the program. Financial assistance is calculated according to the unit’s heating capacity at an outdoor temperature of -8°C.

Eligible ENERGY STAR heat pump
$50 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C

Eligible ENERGY STAR cold-climate heat pump
$120 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C

Choosing a heat pump designed for cold climates can therefore provide access to significantly greater financial assistance.

Hydro-Québec indicates that financial assistance for the installation of an ENERGY STAR heat pump can reach $6,700, depending on the model installed and its capacity.

For homes located in the Laurentians, low-temperature performance is an especially important factor to consider when choosing a heat pump.

Significant Financial Assistance for Geothermal Systems

Homeowners considering a geothermal system may also qualify for substantial financial assistance through LogisVert.

For the purchase and installation of an eligible geothermal heat pump, Hydro-Québec offers $750 per 1,000 BTU/h of eligible capacity.

Financial assistance can reach up to $54,000 per address, depending on the system’s capacity and the program requirements.

Geothermal systems obviously require a much greater initial investment than conventional wall-mounted or central heat pumps. However, for certain properties, they can provide a particularly efficient long-term solution.

Thermal Storage System: Up to $22,000 in Financial Assistance

For certain homes equipped with a central heating system, Hydro-Québec also provides financial assistance for the installation of a thermal storage system.

A thermal storage system stores heat when electricity demand is lower and releases it when heating needs increase. The financial assistance available can be substantial.

Installation of an eligible thermal storage system$15,000

Thermal storage system combined with an eligible central heat pumpup to $22,000

This solution is obviously not suitable for every home. However, it is worth considering when a central heating system needs to be replaced.

What About Other Government Programs?

Financial assistance programs for energy-efficient home renovations change regularly.

In recent years, the Quebec and Canadian governments have offered various programs to help homeowners replace oil- or propane-fired heating systems, install heat pumps and undertake renovations designed to improve residential energy efficiency.

Some of these programs are not currently accepting new applications.

Rather than assuming they are gone for good, it is worthwhile to revisit government websites in 2027. New incentives may be announced, or existing programs may be replaced by new initiatives. In particular, the Éconologis program combined with the LogisVert component for lower-income households operates according to specific application periods and is not currently accepting new applications. It may therefore be worthwhile to check the official websites again in 2027 for new application periods and information about the financial assistance available at that time.

Check Eligibility Before Choosing Your Heat Pump

This is probably the most important advice of all. Don’t choose a heat pump assuming that it will automatically qualify for financial assistance.

The amount available may depend on the exact model, its capacity, its performance at low temperatures, the installation date and the requirements of the program in effect.

Before signing a contract, it is therefore a good idea to verify:

  • whether your home is eligible;
  • the exact heat pump model;
  • the amount of financial assistance available for that unit;
  • the installation requirements;
  • which documents and invoices must be kept.

Financial Assistance Matters… But Choosing the Right System Matters Even More

A financial incentive can make installing a heat pump much more affordable, but it should never be the only factor in your decision.

In the Laurentians, the unit’s ability to maintain its performance when temperatures fall below freezing is particularly important. The size and configuration of the home, its insulation, the existing heating system and the occupants’ needs should also be taken into consideration.
